CraftBukkit Beta Release #2060

How has everyone been doing? The Bukkit team pushed out their second beta build for Minecraft 1.2.3. We’ve been using Release 2 for a while (developer builds) but this fixes quite a few issues. You can read all about it on their Blog.

From CraftBukkit:

Notable changes in this new beta include:

  • a temporary fix for the entity interactivity issue
  • a critical crash exploit fix
  • a fix for the block transmuter exploit
  • many other bug fixes, improvements and changes.

All the plugins are as up to date as humanly possible, only two things I’ve found: dynmap-mobs still doesn’t show Iron Golems and I’ve turned off the [Disposal] sign for Essentials. I’ve installed a Disposal Chest plugin, check the Server Information site for the tutorial video!

Minecraft 1.2.3 Server is up!

All the new goodies are there! Already found a village, starting on infrastructure and transportation! =P I am using developer builds of bukkit until something official pops up so expect several updates until then (some plugins are still not working right…)

You all know the information, if not you know how to contact me!

Minecraft Snapshot 12w07b

Big snapshot today from Jeb and Mojang! You can get the client and server on Mojang’s blog entry about the snapshot HERE. Here’s a quick list of what you can expect from their site:
image

  • Added new world file format called “Anvil” (256 max height and 4096 block IDs*)
  • Multi-player light calculations do no longer cause affected blocks to be transmitted to the clients, instead the clients will recalculate the light on their own
  • Villagers will repopulate villages based on how many houses there are available
  • Some nights in villages will be worse than others…
  • Added a redstone-controlled light source
  • Decreased chance for the rare mob drops
  • All animals use the new AI system now

If I understand correctly, there is a lighting issue in SMP but I’m not sure this was fixed between 07a and 07b. There was a crash bug with mobs spawning on block height 255 that they fixed in that update.

Minecraft Server Hardware Update

So, I pulled the trigger and upgraded the server. The specs have been updated on the Server Information Page. A lot more stable!

I’ll be upgrading to 32GB in a couple weeks and setting up VM’s for all the apps being run. It will provide a better backup solution for the Minecraft world with snapshots and the like. As of now, everything is back up (Vent, Minecraft).

Stay tuned for further updates!!!
